Overview

Lavender 40/42 Essential Oil - lavandula angustifolia

This lavender is often used in soapmaking because of it's standardized scent.

Many pure essential oils can vary by batch since nature is not standardized and plants vary year to year with weather conditions etc.

Lavender 40/42 is pure essential oil but has been produced by isolating the same components during distillation batch to batch.

So you could say that it is not natural in the strict sense of the word, but it is pure and has it's benefits.

I find it to be a wonderful, full scent with many of the benefits of some of the better lavenders.

One time my son had extremely itchy feet for some reason. I only had Lavender 40/42 on hand so we used that and it stopped the itching.

I have used Lavender many times for itching - it worked wonderfully.

LAVENDER BLENDS I HAVE LOVED 

While variations of Lavender may scent a blend differently, you can almost universally use Lavender 40/42 in a blend that any Lavender Essential Oil would suit.

Just be aware that it is strong and very floral - if you are looking for a softer more earthy, 'in the background' type Lavender/essential oil blend, this is probably not the one you want to use.

 

Wonderful blended with Lavandin or a Geranium essential oil in soap.

Wonderful with any Mint or Rosemary or Clary Sage.

Wonderful with Tea Tree (I call it Rainne because it reminds me of the scent in the air after a fresh spring rain. Love it!)

SLEEPY TIME

 

Although Lavender 40/42 is a strong floral, used sparingly it has such a clean scent that it does make laying in bed waiting for sleep such a pleasant experience that sleep does come easier.

While it could be advised that a better quality lavender essential oil be used for healing and aromatherapy, I find that this 'poor man's lavender' will do the trick if need be.

One of the more gentle and healing oils, Lavender is a well known staple for anyone using quality essential oils in skincare.

Uses:balances and tones all skin types. Is commonly used for acne, controls the production of sebum, healing, rejuvenating, sunburn, itch formulas, insect repellent and linen spray. Calming/ nervous tension, fatigue, headache, depression and concentration. One of the gentler oils, gentle enough to be used on small children in proper dilutions.
